What is DEFCON in FPL?

Defensive Contribution (DEFCON) is a scoring category introduced for the 2025/26 season: 2 points for crossing a per-match threshold of defensive actions. Defenders need 10 combined clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles (CBIT) in a match; midfielders and forwards need 12, and for them ball recoveries count towards the total as well as CBIT.

It rewards defensive work that used to earn nothing in FPL — a centre-back who doesn't score or keep a clean sheet but puts in a heavy defensive shift can still return points. The threshold resets every match, there's no partial credit below it and no bonus above it, so going 20/10 scores the same 2 points as going 10/10.
